They got back to the house, and Abby said, "I'll go get the car."

"What for? Where are we going?" Alison asked.

"I want to get a look at downtown Seatrailia, see exactly what's changed. Where's Cathy?"

Cathy sat in front of the TV set in the living room.

A news program came on. Usually, Cathy wasn't a news person, yet she stared unblinking at the screen.

     "What's on?" Abby asked.

Cathy pointed at the screen like that would provide all the answers required. The news item she watched concerned a fourth grader creating sculptures out of aluminum cans for charity.

Abby sat down to watch as well.

Alison came in after five minutes. "Weren't we going to..."

Abby shushed her and pointed to the screen.

The news item was over. Now there was a commercial for a drug Alison had never heard of for an ailment she didn't know existed. "Oh."

Alison sat down with her mom and sister to watch TV.
